Windows games on Android: Winlator

Winlator is a compatibility layer that runs Windows x86/x64 games on Android using Wine, Box86/Box64 and DXVK. It is emulation, not a native port: performance depends heavily on the phone.

Use only the official Winlator build and your own game copy. Avoid repackaged APKs that bundle game data; they are the usual source of malware and legal problems.

Setup

  1. Download Winlator from its official GitHub and install the APK.
  2. Create a container with a recent Wine build; on Adreno GPUs, install Turnip drivers if the project recommends them.
  3. Copy the game folder from your own legal installation to the phone.
  4. Add the game's .exe inside the container and adjust DXVK/VKD3D and resolution for that title.
  5. Test with low settings first. If it does not boot, try another Wine/DXVK combination before giving up.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
Open-world action; a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer is recommended. Expect tinkering and variable frame rates.

Prototype
DirectX 9-era open-world game; some community configurations run it, but stability varies by device.
