Achievements inside Steam with Taiga Launcher

Taiga Launcher is a free, open-source Windows app that adds non-Steam games — native ports such as God of War III, emulated games and other stores — to Steam with a game page, artwork, playtime and achievements.

  • Achievements come from the source that actually tracks them: RetroAchievements for emulators, RPCS3, Vita3K or shadPS4 trophies, the port's own trophy list and unlock log, or the official Steam list when the same game exists on Steam.
  • Unlocks use Steam's native notification, but everything stays local: they are not real Steam achievements, do not grant ownership and never change your public profile.
  • It is portable and unsigned, so Windows may warn on first run. It restarts Steam once to use its local debugging port; after that it works automatically.
  • It is an early build with bugs, and a game only works when it exposes an achievement list and an unlock log. God of War III is one of the ports that already does.

Which games can show achievements?

Works

  • Emulated PS3 games with trophies in RPCS3, such as Demon's Souls, The Last of Us or the God of War collection.
  • Emulated PS4 games with trophies in shadPS4, and emulated PS Vita games in Vita3K, such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss or Gravity Rush.
  • Retro consoles through RetroAchievements: there are thousands of supported NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, GBA, PS1 and PS2 games.
  • Native PS4 ports that keep the console trophy list and write an unlock log: SpartanPort (God of War III) and bbport / Supermedo (Bloodborne) are the known cases.
  • Games from Epic, GOG and Xbox, using each store's achievements.
  • PC games that also exist on Steam, using the official Steam list and the progress saved on your PC.

Does not work, or only partially

  • Native recompilations and decompilations with their own achievement system, such as Unleashed Recompiled: those achievements cannot connect to Steam or RetroAchievements.
  • The Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection port has trophies, but its own log format is not the one Taiga reads today.
  • Most Nintendo ports (Mario, Zelda, Metroid): they do not expose a PlayStation trophy list or a compatible unlock log.
  • A PS4 dump without the trophy key or the XML files extracted by shadPS4: at most the icons appear, without names or descriptions.
  • Games that are not on Steam and have no store or console trophies: there is no list to show.

How to set it up

  1. Download the ZIP from the official release and extract it outside Program Files.
  2. Open Taiga Launcher.exe, pick your language and Steam account, and let it scan your drives.
  3. Connect RetroAchievements or the stores you use if you want their achievements tracked.
  4. Launch the ports from Steam; the new pages live in the Taiga Launcher collection.

Download it only from its official GitHub releases. It reads local progress and does not modify your games, saves or accounts.
